"As much as I would appreciate another warrior on our side and one to help Altan, I cannot chose you path for you....what you shall do is solely your choice and it would be wrong of me to interfere. Just know that, whatever you chooes, I will still help to watch over him as though he were one of my own," he told her. He hadn't said anything helpful, but nor had he taken all of her hope away. No answers, no clues, but some hope had been given nonetheless. Now all she needed to do was make her choice.

At that moment, Altan stirred in his slip, mumbling something inchoerent before lapsinig back into silence as he felt fingers run through his hand once more. But something kept him from truly plnging back into the abyss of sleep. Sadness...there were sad people just beyond the reaches of his current state of conciousness, he needed to be awake, and so he soon found himself sitting up, yawning, and then blinking blearily as he looked from Zane to Ally and then back again, his gaze questioning and concerned as he coul feel sadness drifting off of both of them in waves.

Nodding at Zane's words, Ally tried to think of a decision to make. In her heart, she knew what she should do, but her friends wouldn't support her decision.
Staring at Altan, Ally smiled slightly. "It's okay. You can be free. I'm here for you. You can be free."

Altan stared at her with his golden robs for eyes, and they were filled with confusion. "I can never be free," he whispered and then glanced back and Zane, his gaze pleading. "Please let me go back into the darkness...it's quieter there and it doesn't hurt nearly so much," the broken man said to him.
He then chanced a glance back at Ally and winced. Something was familiar...she seemed like someone he had known long ago and yet...he couldn't quite grasp what it was.
"Alanna?"he questioned softly......then he looked at her and frowned. "I'm sorry...I don't...remember, I don't wan't that kind of freedom anymore," he told her. He seemed so childlike now, so different from the wizard who had earlier viciously attack the halfling camp without so much as a flicker of remorse.

"Even though it hurts right now, you're not living a lie.. You're being who you're meant to be, not a heartless and cruel killer that you've become.. Please Altan, try to understand that this is the best thing for you. This freedom will be a cause of rejoicing!"
Ally tried hard to keep her brother out of the tightly bound mask for right now, desperate to find something that he could cling to to keep himself from falling into the pit of cold darkness.
"It's me, Altan.. It's Alanna.." she whispered, her eyes soothing and calm, though her mind was wildly raging to find something that he could remember. "Look, it's Selei. Remember him?"
Ally produced her green companion, one of the gifts that her brother gave her when she was smaller to keep her from feeling like a misfit.

"Selei?" he repeated questioningly, finding that the word was less foreign to him than he would have thought. "I gave..." he broke off as two fairies apperaed in the room, one small with a tight bun of orang hair and bright blue eyes and theother was a male with short raven colored hair. "My Lord, there's been an attack on the outskiirts, the humans are advancing into out territory," one cried out, speaking faster than one would have though him capable of without taking a breath.
It was then that Altan cried out and curled into a ball, sheilding himself from the anger and fear coming from the two newly appeared, and the rage that sparked within the usually calm Zane in answer....It was then that he descended back into the darkness, and his expression smoothed into a perect blankess before he stood and approached them.
He glanced back and Zane and got a frown accompanied by a nod and then he began giving hasty orders to the two faeries before heading over to retrieve his staff. "If you'll excuse me, Lord Zane, Lady Alanna," he said, bowing to each in turn and waiting for Zane to grat him permission to head out and drive the humans off a he had countless times before.

Ally watched him in horror, springing to her feet. "I'm going with you."
She made a split-second decision, knowing that it was right. "I'm half-wizard. I can help you. I can try to unite the two alliances so we can all proceed against the humans to wipe them out. Please Altan, please.. I can help you, I swear," Ally pleaded with her brother, trying to formulate a plan that just might work..

Altan stared coldly at her, recognition no longer within his eyes and he glanced over to Zane who seemed to have suddenly vanished, appearing to have left him to his own devices. It would be his decision and his alone, and after a moment he said, "Fine, do as you will, but try not to hinder me too much." He was clearly annoyed with her now, but at least he hadn't sent her away yet.

Deflating after realizing that her brother didn't see her as his sister anymore, Ally sorta shifted and frowned slightly, whispering that she would try not to get in his way and moving next to him so that he could transport them together.

Altan frowned slightly at her response, as he hadn't actually expected her to wish to come with him. However, as it seemd she wasn't about to back down just ye, he reached out and grabbed one of her hands, keeping the hold just tight enough to make sure she would be transported safely with him, and just loose enough so that his grip wouldn't cause her any pain, though it was likely that he wouldn't have cared much even if it had.
he then raised his staff and the jewel glowed a soft white, before flashing brightly and transporting them to the very edge of the fairy territory, into the midst of a bloody battle between fairies and humans.

The girl's timid posture changed completely, and she nodded at her brother before unsheathing a long silver sword.
"Tell me what you need me to do Altan," Ally said, a hint of adventure present in her tone.
The half-Wizard glanced up at her brother willingly, waiting for him to respond. The battle was truly heart-wrenching and frightening, but Ally was eager to fight. It was a trait that had been passed on by her father, and Ally waited to see if Altan had it as well, though seriously doubting that he would show it in his new mask.

Altan glanced over at Alanna and gave her what could almost be considered a nod of approval of sorts, before he headed into the frey of battle, not bothering to give her instructions on what she should do. Instead he bent down to lay his staff on the ground and then began a shifting spell.
His body began to shrin and feathers began to sprot forth from his skin until, instead of a man, a peregrine falcon stood upon the ground. The bird then let out a war cry before flapping its powerful wings and taking flight. It seemed he would use the razor sharp talons and beak of the creature to start his attack and confuse his human enemy, after all, who could effetively fight against a bird of any sort without first stopping to wonder why the bird was attacking them, even if his bird of choice was a fierce bird of prey.

Watching the transformation in admiration and awe, Ally charged into the battle. Her thin sword glided through the air expertly, smashing into humans and causing them to drop to their knees in pain before dying.
Ally moved as a blur, swirling around and swinging her sword. She was in some kind of trance, fighting and destroying enemies.
She felt a faint buzz of pain next to her ribcage, but she didn't bother to see what it was. She kept going harder to kill before breaking off in mid-swing, panting in pain and fatigue.
Ally realized that her left side was bleeding profusely, but she couldn't stop now, she had to make Altan proud that she was this fierce and strong.. She just had to..
So picking up the thin blade, Ally dove back into battle. She knew somewhere in her mind however that this was very dangerous-- she would indeed keep fighting until she died.

Rini gazed in aw at the battle before her. She and Niki had managed to slip in to hitch a ride on the transportation to the now red and green feild. Humans and Fairies alike lay dieing, dead, or injured on the feild, and Rini hoped with all her heart that Ally and Altan wouldn't get hurt. She didn't care much for Altan, but she knew Ally did, and she couldn't see her freind hurt, physically or emotionally.
Rini's eyes burned red, a deep blood red, not her usualy bright marune. A feeling of need washed over her, a need to kill. It's here... the blood need. She thought, her strong jaws twitching, waiting to charge. She looked to Niki, giving a slight growl. "We have to fight. Don't get hurt. They're humans, just bight them. They fear us." She said in wolf talk. She turned her blood red eyes back to the battle feild and charged down the hill, waiting to jump on her enemies. She swiftly and effciently ripped through the flesh of the humans that tried to attack her and Niki, watching them die slowly, moaning in pain. The salty taste of blood washed over her tounge, her teeth no longer a gleeming white, but a deep red.

Suddenly noticing two gray figures snarling and killing, Ally managed to cry out while fighting herself.
"Rini.. and.. Niki..! This.. is.. not.. your.. battle..!" Ally managed to scream inbetween gasps and long strokes with her sword. "Stop.. fighting.. and.. go.. home!!"
Ally was angered that they had chosen to follow Altan and herself here, to this battle. They didn't belong here, they were full-fledged halflings. This was not their battle and not their alliance. They needed to go back to their camp and find their mud-drowned allies and nurse them back to health, just not be here where they didn't belong.
