Elves scrambled to save themselves and their forest, screaming in horror as the Vampires watched them in amusement and triumph.
The battle continued in and around the snaking fire, clashing blades creating a resounding sound that seemed almost deafening.
Fighting was the only thing that the Elves knew at that time as arrows sank into skin, blades bit into flesh and bone, and blood poured out torn wounds.
It was all they could do to not faint at the overwhelming and overpowering scene that took over their senses, but all pressed harder and harder, determined to win and never to lose.

The Vampires smiled in triumph at the slaughter of the Elves, but they themselves could not take too many more losses. As the Elves numbers' began to take their toll, the Vampires began to fall back. They retreated across the river, fleeing for their unlives. ((Couldn't really be called lives, because they're dead...))
Suddenly, a Wyvern flew up from inside a hooded enclosure, which had been unseen by all, both Elves and Vampires alike. The Lord Commander sat astride its back, resplendant in his midnight black armor. The Wyvern stooped, crushing a half dozen Elves, then lashed its tail straight through another Elf. It roared, with ear-shattering might, and stomped its challenge upon the ground.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Vampire retreated across the river, as they couldn't take any more losses. They weren't used to dieing, and they had lost more than 500 of their kin in this single battle. The Wyvern continued to cover their retreat, and they were happy to leave it at that.

The Elven armies were sprawled along the ground, some dead and others merely wounded. The battle, the unprepared for and deadly battle was finally over.
"Cowards.." spat several of the Elven women as they ran to help those that were in battle. "Killing and leaving because they couldn't handle it.. Pah!"
As the Elves picked up the remains of the fight once more, they had no idea that every single move that they made was being scrutinized and every thing they touched was being recorded.
The innocent Elves were being watched with eyes of evil, and they were oblivious to when it would pounce..

The Wyvern and Lord Commander flew off, leaving the battlefield behind. The vampires pressed homewards, and Kirsdarke surveyed all through his scrying orb, and he smiled. While we may not have been victorious in holding the river, they lost more troops than I did, and we burned their forest, and lowered their morale greatly. So all in all, a great success! Kirsdarke thought, and smiled once more.
