Ally glanced at her friends, but only recieved blank stares. With a deep breath, Ally asked the question that she had been waiting to ask for as long as she could remember.
"Is it possible to raise people from the dead?"

Rini tensed up. "I don't trust you." She said coldly, glareing at him with and icy look. "If she agrees..." She said to Ally. "We will give you back your stupid staff, but you won't be going anywhere." She said angrily, hoping with all her heart that Ally wouldn't trust him, but she knew deep down that the elf would want her question answered.

Ally closed her eyes, knowing that her friends would be angry with her for asking her question.. But she needed to know. She needed to know if there was any hope at all for her father, some of her friends, and possibly hundreds of others to become alive once more. She waited for the bitter 'no' to wash over her, and waited and prayed that she would be mistaken in guessing the Wizard's answer to her question.

Had he been in a more emotional state, his shock might have registered upon his feature, however he wasn't and so it did no such thing. Instead, he merely chuckled and shook his head as though he was mocking her wor asking what she had asked and would not answer after all. However, when he looked at her again he did answer, and even more surpriing was the fact that the truth fell from his lips when he did. "But of course, anything is possible with the right incantations, items, and enough power," he told her, and with that said reached a hand out for his staff once more.

A small spark of hope sparked in Rini's heart. That would be... so wonderful. We could definatly beat the humans! She looked up to the man. She had a question as well. "You're a wizard, correct. So why did you attack the halflings? They're fighting for the same cause! To defeat the humans!" She said, glareing him down

Ally's eyes snapped open, hope glimmering in them. Her smile was wide and hopeful, even though she knew that she had none of the things needed. It was just that there was the possibility that made her face shine with happiness.
"Thank you," she said, her voice coated in appreciation for the Wizard.
Randomly, she reached out and hugged the figure unexpectedly, not even sure of what she was doing herself at that moment.

Rini blinked. Why is she.... Hugging him!!!!!! She thought, bewildered. "Umm.... Ally?" She asked softly, not wanting to inturrupt her freind... whatever she was doing.

Altan had been just about to reply callously and uncaringly to Rini's words, to tell her that he merely followed order and cared not whose side he fell on, after all, everyone had their reasons, even if his were more than a mystery than they should have been...though that may have been because he was forever denying the truth.
However, before he could speak, Ally unexpectedly hugged him, and this time he was shocked and it did register through the emotionless mask that was his face. However only for a moment did the confusion show in his golden eyes before vanishing as he replied. "What are you doing?" he asked, sounding like he genuinely had no idea, and perhaps, this distant, less cared for side of him did not. It was opposing in this as everything else to his other half, and where that one craved embraces and the warmth of another, his current form had no need nor understanding of such things.

Recoiling as if the man had shocked her, Ally's eyes were huge in realization and horror. She raised one trembling finger and pointed it at the man. "I know who you are. Oh god, no, it can't be!"
Ally began running to the other end of the cave as fast as possible, needing to escape from reality, not prepared for the stinging blow it would send once it caught up with her.

Rini caught Ally as she ran, both falling to the ground. "ALLY!" She said, hanging onto her arm. "Don't go." She said softly. She pulled the elf to her feet, then she caught the man's eyes with hers. "What did you do to her?" She asked angrily. "What did you do!" She said, her red eyes full of anger and worry.

Ally shook her head wildly. "NO! No, you need to let me go! He did nothing.. He's just.. He's not who you think he is, okay?!"
The Elf's eyes were filled with tears threatening to spill over onto her flushed cheeks. Her face was drawn and pained, hurt and horror swimming in her celery-green orbs.

Rini helt tight. "NO! You can't go! You're the only person who can control this idiot. If he's someone of importance, who is he? You have to be brave!" She said, fighting to keep the elf in place. "It's not safe for you to run." She said softly.

Again a brief flash of confusion appeared in his golden eyes and then vanished. Then he took retrieved his staff while they were elsewise busy before turning to them. "And exactly who am I to you?" he asked, the confusion may have left his eyes but it hadn't left his voice, and this form didn't at all like being confused.

Ally looked fearfully between Rini and the man.
"YOU KNOW!" she suddenly burst out. "Tell them! Tell them who you are! Or.. who you were.. I knew you before you turned like THIS. I knew you, and you knew me. Stop lying, and TELL THEM!"
She wriggled out of Rini's death grip and made her way back through the wet stone to the man before staring him in the eye.
"The truth, Altan."

Rini stared at the staff. NO! She thought angrily. She stared at the man. "WHO are you!" She demanded, ready to turn wolf if she had to. She wanted more then anything to just rip him apart, but she knew that wouldn't help them at all.
