Rini walked towards a familiar clearing, the clearing of her dear friend Ally. A long black cloak enveloped her, covering her face, and her tears. It had only been a week since Yasutaka's death, and Rini was terribly depressed.
Niki had been worried about her and sent her here, to Ally's, knowing if anyone could snap the girl back into shape it would be the tempermental Elf.
The wolf girl slowly walked up to the edge of it, hesitating before knocking softly on a tree. I should... just... go... Rini thought, her eyes red from the tears she had wept.

A soft knock sounded through the empty grassy region, and Ally's swordplay abruptly stopped. She wiped the beaded sweat from her head, sheathed her blade, and swept her hair back neatly.
"Be right there!" the Elf called, running to the tree. "Hey, may I help-- Rini! What.. What.. What happened to you?!"
Her confident words faded into terrified stuttering as she backed into a bush to get away from the dead-looking halfling.
"Rini?" Ally whispered gently, her green eyes still wide with shock. "What's going on love? What happened to you?"

Seeing the caring face Rini was overswept with emotion. "Ally..." She whispered, falling forward towards her friend, her new tears wetting the elf's shirt. 'He's gone Ally. He's gone because of me." She managed to choke out.
She stood there for a while, new fresh tears falling down her red cheeks.

Ally stood stiffly, clutching Rini's pale and scrawny arms, staring straight ahead. This was about Yasutaka, like always. She hadn't been mentally there when the death had occurred, but the guilt of her assisting in his murder and the clawing need to find out what had happened ever since she had fallen prey to some trick to eliminate her mind from her body.
"Rini. You didn't mean to. It was an accident.. It's okay love.." the Elf whispered words of reassurance, but inside, a cloud of hate swirled inside of her. The Halfling was causing so much pain for Ally, but the girl couldn't stop Rini's tears telling her this. It was best to let the grief of the wolf run it's course, and Ally would brood silently later.

"He's still dead." Rini said bitterly, her volume rising just above a whisper. "Accident or not, he's dead. If I had just left him be... maybe...." she thought aloud.
She clenched her fests tightly. "Why can't I do anything right?" She asked angrily, new tears beginning and falling, mixing with the others. "Why? Why do I mess everything up? Why..." she whispered, barely audible.

Sighing softly, Ally hugged her friend before leading her into the shaded trees and seating her in a tree stump across from her own.
"Rini.. Listen to me, okay? Everyone knows that it was an accident.. That you were sorry, that you didn't mean to, that you miss him! It's natural to feel guilt dear, but you need to understand that we all forgive you! We understand." Ally tried to soothe the halfling with a calm voice, but she knew that it was possible that this would only agitate the dark and weary Halfling.

"I don't care if peole forgive me." She said slowly. "I can never, NEVER forgive myself." She said coldly, her eyes narrowing in hatred for herself.
It's my fault... Why am I still alive? He should be alive, and I dead. She thought coldly. "I can never forgive myself." She whispred, silently thanking Ally for being there. She clenched her hands, trying to stop them from shaking, which they had been. Her nails dug into her skin and a trickle of crimson liquied squeezed out. It's only an ounce of pain compared to his... She thought sadly, squeezing harder.

"Yes you can! I know you can Rini, I know you can.." pleaded Ally, desperation tugging at her tone. "He wouldn't want you acting like this. He wouldn't, I swear.. Just be yourself.. Remember him, but do not mourn. Feel sad, but do not let grief overtake you. Understand, but do not wave it off. Move on, but do not forget.."
The Elf's green eyes shone with tears, repeating the very thing that she had been telling herself. She was a hypocrite, but if it was the way to save Rini, it would work.
Ally forced a smile at Rini through her bright tears, but it was so obviously fake. The girl didn't dare reach up to wipe her eyes for chance that Rini had not already seen her tears. She didn't want attention brought to the fact that the wolf Halfling wasn't the only one crying.

Rini stared at the ground. "How can you understand Ally? You weren't the one who shoved the sword in his gut, you're not the reason he's DEAD!" She said angrily, fighting back her tears, though they just continued to fall.
She squeezed harder, yelping in pain. It's.... nothing.... not... painful... She thought, though she felt lightheaded form the loss of blood.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Ally yelped, flying up from the stump in terror, staring at the punctured skin and the blood oozing from the wounds. "STOP! STOP STOP STOP!!!"
The Elf raced forward and yanked Rini's nails from her hands, her eyes huge in horror. A tear splashed onto the bloodied palm, and Ally slowly began to back away into the clearing, utterly petrified at the drastic change in her sweet friend.
And it's all because of me..

Rini clenched her fists, now died a deep red. "I don't deserve to live." She said coldly. She glared at her arm. It's not enough... Not for what I have done.... perhaps... She thought. She slowly transformed to her wolf form, ignoring the pain in her hands/paws.
Once in her wolf form she bared her teeth, clamping down on her left front leg. She felt the metallic salty blood flow into her mouth. The world around her was spinning, she hadn't been eating, barely drinking and not even trying to sleep. This combined weakness lead to her on the ground, unable to move, weak with fatigue. She stared at her bloody leg, slowly losing her conciseness.

"RINI! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TRYING TO DO?!" Ally screamed out, every fiber of herself terrified of losing the Halfling. "NO! Don't faint! Stay alive!! PLEASE!!"
Pleading fiercely with Rini, the Elf shook her friend violently, yelling for her to wake up and have everything be okay. But she knew that it never could be, never would be.. There would always be an empty spot in Rini from where Yasutaka's death would be replayed, and Ally could never fill that.
Sinking to the ground in defeat, Ally's tears started. "WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DIE, YOU DAMN HARPY?! WHY?! WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST FORGET ABOUT YOU? WHY DID I HAVE TO FIND YOU?!"
She knew that she would get no reply, so she dropped against the dirt hard, and cried herself into a slumber.

After a few hours Rini slowly opened her eyes, pain seething through her leg. She whimpered, blood covering the ground. "a-ally?" She asked feebly. She probably left me.... I'm not worth anyones time. She thought, to weak to even look to see where her friend was.

"Rini? RINI!!!" Ally screamed desperately, searching for her best friend. Where had she gone?! "WHERE ARE YOU?!"
Falling to the ground to look for pawprints or footprints or any kind, Ally scrambled about in terror, angry that she couldn't find a hurt wolf halfling who was basically out of her mind by this point.
Suddenly, an idea came to her mind. "Oh Lord no.." she muttered, her eyes widening. "SHIT!"
Racing to the cliffs as fast as she could, Ally could only pray to whatever God that was up there that she wouldn't be too late..

Rini glanced down to the large chasm below her. "It's a long way down..." She whispered softly in that creepy voice that gives most people the shivers. Should I? What's the point of staying here... I'm only going to die... he's dead, Ally's probably burdened with me... as well as Niki. They would be better off without me... These thoughts whirled through her head as she stared down into the forest below.
Her black cloak swayed in the wind, adding to the overall drama of the moment. "Maybe..." She whispered.
